Introducing... Our Saviour, Yeshua Messiah


On our way to the house of salvation we say a prayer to accept Christ in our lives and we verbally affirm that Jesus was the Son of God that died for our sins and rose again to be with his Father in heaven. Then we ask for forgiveness of our sin. There is something about asking Jesus to forgive our sins that seems to me to be unnatural. Not that it's wrong. I think its fine that many people ask for forgiveness but I can't help but ask why? I understand why we need to ask for permission to do certain things. I can even understand asking God to help us understand His will for our lives at times when our circumstances make us confused about what is really happening to us spiritually. But even in this we have authority to call down revelation and clarity through the peace of Christ. So what I'm asking is, why do we ask for forgiveness after we admit and affirm that Jesus already died for our sins so that we would be forgiven? Unless we're absolutely sure that we need to ask for something we don't yet have from Him, I personally think it's unnecessary to ask for anything we already have from the Lord. With my whole heart I believe that Christ went out of his way to make sure that everyone who wanted salvation wouldn't have to ask for it or anything else that Yeshua has already given to us. We have been given too much authority and power as followers of Messiah to just ask for the very virtues and inheritances that already belong to the Church. God's grace for our lives is too big for dams to be set up and regulations to be in order dictating the method of salvation for us and making it circumstantial based on words and actions on our behalf. I'm not saying our confessions of the truth of the cross and the deity of Yeshua as the true Messiah, son of God are unnecessary. I'm saying it's by faith we are saved so by faith we must also receive our salvation. Although the spirit of those who genuinely come looking for salvation is humble it's only a lack of faith and spiritual understanding on our own part when we ask for something God already gave us.

A receptive heart is all we need. Reception of our Lord and knowing our need for him will grant us eternal life because it's that same everlasting salvation that we need to receive, not ask for, that will get us into the kingdom of our Father and in the presence of our saviour. Most people think it's essential to ask for forgiveness of sin to enter in the kingdom. I say it's more essential to receive it humbly day-to-day, knowing we did nothing to receive such grace to begin with. What about Judas? He hung himself because he felt so bad about what he did. Is he in heaven then because he believed and yet did not ask for forgiveness? Assuming he did believe - let's look at what Judas did for a moment. First of all Judas knew he sinned even before he sinned. Jhn 13.27. Afterwards though, he knew that his betrayal was the ultimate sin and he felt so bad about it that he threw the money back at the Pharisees and went to condemn himself to death. That is just what Satan would want to do; accuse Judas of betrayal and condemn him to death. Actually "Satan" is not a name but rather a title and can be translated as “Prosecuting Attorney” (An Introduction to the Bible, A Journey into Three Worlds, 7th Edition, Christian E. Hauer and William A. Young, pg 184). When Satan entered Judas there was no sin but the sin to be committed was inevitable betrayal and this was what the devil was hoping for because he uses sin to bring us condemnation and shame. I would say that Judas killed himself not because he betrayed the Lord but because of the immense guilt that once lay upon him. All of us has betrayed the Lord in one way or another and we’re all accused of our betrayal sooner or later by the evil prosecuting attorney. This is why we need to receive forgiveness humbly because Jesus of Nazareth is our defense lawyer and the trial was already victorious in our favor. As heaven for our jury the vote was unanimous and we are proclaimed innocent and blameless. Don’t ever think you’re on the enemy’s side. He’ll never defend you. He only wants to bring judgment and death on you. Instead, believe and receive in the savior Yeshua of Nazareth. Know with every fiber of your being that it wasn’t because you asked for forgiveness that God decided to sacrifice His son for you but because your Father in heaven had a plan since the beginning to wipe out your sin and eradicate it without you ever having to do or ask anything in return – only receive. Know that in your heart your Fathers grace for you is bigger than you or I could ever see. For this reason be wise and fear the Lord because He is mighty to save and endures all the evil in the world for our sake.

Think about the thief that died with Jesus. Does the Bible say he asked Jesus to forgive him? Does it say that Jesus told him to ask for forgiveness? No. When the thief looked at Jesus, unlike his friend, he felt remorse for what he did and knew he deserved it but the only thing he asked for was to be remembered. Lk 23.42. The thief knew his sin and admitted it openly but the Lord in all his grace and passion for this man told him that he would not need to be remembered because he would be in heaven together with the Lord. The only thing that can save us from eternal death is our acceptance of Jesus Christ and what he did for us and the acceptance of our Father’s grace for our lives. It does not take our words or action to accept these two things, it takes a revelation of the Lamb that was slain and supernatural faith. So believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thank Abba Father for all His love for you. Let’s be real with God so He can be real with us.
